Senior Vice President at City of Tulsa Housing Authority

Dr. Barbara Abercrombie is the Senior Vice President for Administration at the Housing Authority for the City of Tulsa and the owner of Abercrombie Consulting, LLC, a human resources consulting firm specializing in employee engagement, strategic planning and organizational development. She has extensive experience in Human Resources with an emphasis on employee engagement, generational cohorts in the workplace and change management. She has spent countless hours working as a volunteer on numerous nonprofit boards throughout her career. She has been a long-time mentor for those in human resources, volunteers for a host of roles with NSU, and served the Tahlequah community in several roles during her time as a Tahlequah resident.

Barbara has her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University and went on to obtain a master’s degree in human resources from the University of Oklahoma, and a doctorate in workforce education and human resource development from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Abercrombie has been active in the Northeastern State University Alumni Association for many years severing in several leadership roles as well as Board President. She is currently serving as the Board President for Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS), College Relations Chair for the Tulsa Area Human Resources Association and on the OKHR SHRM State Council. She also currently serves on the NSU Foundation Board.

Barbara has received the Distinguished Service Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, NSU Centurion Award, Leadership classes (Fayetteville and Tulsa), and is this year’s Distinguished Alumni for Northeastern State University.
